Lahore City Tour with a Driver: Fort, Badshahi Mosque and Wagah
On this Lahore city tour, a professional driver collects you from your door or Allama Iqbal International Airport and brings you back after the Wagah ceremony. Spend the morning in the old walled city, Lahore Fort and the Badshahi Mosque. Then follow the GT Road past Shalimar Gardens to Wagah for the evening flag-lowering. The driver waits with the car at each stop.

Lahore Fort and the Badshahi Mosque, face to face
Lahore Fort, at the northern edge of the old walled city, faces the Badshahi Mosque across Hazuri Bagh, so one stop covers both. Beside the mosque, the Minar-e-Pakistan stands in Greater Iqbal Park. For lunch, the rooftop restaurants of Fort Road Food Street look across at the Badshahi domes.
The old walled city on foot, from Delhi Gate to the fort
The walled city's streets narrow into busy passages, so the driver sets you down at Delhi Gate and meets you again on the fort side. From the gate, the restored Shahi Guzargah runs past the Shahi Hammam to the Wazir Khan Mosque, about 260 metres west. Beyond it the lanes run through the bazaars to the fort, and many visitors take a rickshaw for that part. Wear comfortable shoes and start early.
Lahore sightseeing by car: Shalimar, the museum and Shahdara
Shalimar Gardens sits beside the GT Road about 5 km east of Delhi Gate, so it falls on the way out to Wagah. On a day without the border, the afternoon can go to the Lahore Museum on the Mall. Across the river at Shahdara, Jahangir's tomb has Asif Khan's tomb close by and Nur Jahan's a little further on.
Which car for Lahore sightseeing
A couple or a small family rides comfortably in a Toyota Corolla GLi / XLi. A Honda Civic is the usual pick for a visiting executive with an afternoon free. A family with grandparents or small children usually prefers the seven-seat Changan Karvaan and its sliding doors. A family party can travel together in the Toyota Grand Cabin, with its passenger layout and bags confirmed.
How your Lahore city tour is quoted
One quote covers the trip, with fuel and parking for the old-city and Wagah runs listed in it. The quote can be paid in cash, by bank transfer, by card or online, and a company can settle it on a monthly invoice. A Lahore booking cancelled up to 24 hours before pickup costs nothing, and a replacement car is sent if yours breaks down.

Questions people ask
Is the Wagah border ceremony on?
Yes. As of 4 October 2026, the latest reports show the flag-lowering held every evening before sunset and open to the public.
What time should we leave Lahore for the Wagah ceremony?
About two and a half hours before it starts. The road is only about 27 km, 40 to 50 minutes, but the queue, the security checks and the long walk from the parking area take longer. Early arrivals also get better seats.
Do foreigners need a passport at Wagah?
Yes, the original, which is checked at the last checkpoint; foreign visitors sit in their own gallery nearer the gates. Leave bags, power banks, lighters and big cameras in the car with the driver, as the entrance keeps them out.
Can we have the history explained at the fort?
Yes. The Walled City of Lahore Authority sells its own tours of the fort through its website. You can also bring a private guide, and we keep a seat free in the car.
Can we see Lahore Fort at night?
Yes, at weekends: History by Night visits run on Saturdays and Sundays and are booked with the Walled City of Lahore Authority. Tell us your slot, and the driver plans the evening around it and takes you back afterwards.
Can we see Lahore Fort, the Badshahi Mosque and Wagah in one day?
Yes, if the fort comes first, as it closes half an hour before sunset. See the walled city, the fort and the mosque in the morning, keep Shalimar Gardens short, and leave for Wagah in the afternoon.
Can we start our Lahore city tour from Islamabad?
Yes. The car and driver collect you in Islamabad and take the M-2 to Lahore, usually four to five hours. Make it at least two days, so the Lahore day with Wagah starts fresh. Motorway tolls are extra.
Are the driver's meals included?
Yes. The quote includes his meals, and his overnight stay too if the trip runs past one day, as it does from Islamabad.
Which vehicle is right for a school trip around Lahore?
A Toyota Coaster 4C is currently listed with 22 seats and a Yutong Bus has a current 47-seat/AC listing. One vehicle keeps the group together in the large Wagah parking area.
