City hire in Quetta
Inside the city, bookings tend to be a car and driver for the day rather than an hour here and there: Jinnah Road and Zarghoon Road for offices and shopping, Cantt and Satellite Town for hotels and houses, the hospitals on Sariab Road, and the airport run at the start and end of a trip. A saloon such as the Corolla Altis or Honda City is comfortable for two or three people with bags, and the higher vehicles earn their keep in winter when the roads are wet or icy.
Ziarat, Hanna Lake and the day trips
The short trips out of Quetta are what most visitors remember: Hanna Lake and the Urak valley in an afternoon, or the longer climb to Ziarat through the juniper forest with the Quaid-e-Azam Residency at the end of it. These are far easier with a driver who knows the road and the weather, particularly between November and March. A Fortuner, Prado or Sportage is the usual pick for the Ziarat run; a family can do Hanna Lake comfortably in a BR-V or an APV.
Long-distance routes across Balochistan
Balochistan distances are serious, and we treat them that way. The N-25 down through Khuzdar and Bela towards Karachi is a full day's drive, and routes towards Chaman, Sibi, Loralai or Zhob are longer still. For any of these we agree the route, the fuel arrangement, the number of nights and where the driver stays before the booking is confirmed, and we will say plainly if a request is not sensible for the vehicle or the season rather than take the booking and hope.
Planning a Quetta booking
Quetta needs more notice than Karachi or Lahore because vehicles and drivers have to be arranged for a city far from our base, so send your dates as early as you can. Yes, the N-25 route through Khuzdar is one we arrange, as a one-way drop or a return with the driver. It is a long day on the road, so we agree the departure time, the fuel arrangement, the stops and the driver's rest before you travel. Tell us the passengers and luggage and we will suggest the vehicle.
Is a 4x4 necessary in winter?
Not for normal city running, but for Ziarat and the higher routes in the cold months most customers prefer a Fortuner, Prado or Sportage for the ground clearance and the sure-footedness.
